Their applications are wide-ranging, from life-saving operations such as rescue, law enforcement, disaster management, health care, and surveillance, to professional services like filming and journalism, geo-mapping, and agriculture, to consumer uses like delivery of goods and even taking selfies. However, the most challenging issue with drones today is their payload weight limitation. The most a drone can carry is around 20kg and stay in the air for no more than 20 minutes, requiring a double charge time. McFly's mission is to commercialize a VTOL drone that can lift large weights for long periods of time while still maintaining a small form factor and a quick charging time.
